VID Specialized University
VID Specialized University was established on January 1, 2016 after the merger between four diaconal university colleges. The history of VID is based on diaconal and missional pioneer work from 1843, making VID the oldest private institution of higher education in Norway.
VID Specialized University undertakes education and research in the fields of health and social sciences, educational science, management, diaconia and theology. Among VID’s key expertise areas are cooperation with the labor market in the church- health- and social work sectors, supporting the students in developing their professional skills, including research on learning and teaching in professional practice, among other areas. VID has four Strategic Centres of Research to support the RDI work of the institution.
The University offers approximately 50 study programmes at Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels, and our objective is to develop as a national institution through regional cooperation.
