About the Facilitators

Arja Suikkala (RN, PhD) works as a Principal Lecturer in Health Care at Diak and she is teaching in Bachelor and Master level study programs. Her special fields of interest are interdisciplinary learning, innovative approaches in patient-centred clinical learning and evidence-based practice. She is a member of a research group RENE (Research in Nursing Education) at the University of Turku, Finland. Her post-doctoral research focuses on improving the quality of health care education and training. She has a special research interests in the field of clinical education, particularly issues related to clinical learning environment and health care clients’ involvement in students’ clinical learning and assessment processes. More recently, her research has also focused on the palliative care competence of health professionals.

Satu Kajander-Unkuri (RN, PhD) works as a Principal Lecturer in Health Care at Diak and she is teaching in Bachelor and Master level study programs. Her special research interests are nursing education and nursing students’ competence. She is a member of a research group RENE (Research in Nursing Education) at the University of Turku, Finland. Her post-doctoral research focuses on improving the quality of health care education and health care educator’s education and training. Satu’s current research project (COMPEUnurse) focuses on nursing students’ competence and related factors in six European countries at graduation and in early years of practice.
